Catherine Morgan
Head of Drama
Catherine graduated from Northumbria University before working as an actor and stage manager in Newcastle Upon Tyne. She moved home to Edinburgh, where she got a job at the International Film Festival. She began volunteering to teach film, acting and dance workshops with local youth groups. This led her to discover her love of teaching. She enrolled at Moray House, Edinburgh University where she gained her PGDE in Drama for Primary and Secondary Education.
Catherine moved to Mexico in 2010, where she led the Film, Theatre and Drama Department at the Edron Academy (El Colegio Británico, A.C.). This is when she first encountered the International Baccalaureate. By the end of her 5 years as Head of Department, she had a wealth of experience teaching IB Theatre, IB Literature and Performance and IB Film. She developed her knowledge of the courses by becoming an examiner for both IB Theatre and IB Literature and Performance. Catherine then moved back to Europe, to Munich, where she taught for another 4 years. During this time, she developed her pastoral leadership as the very first House System Coordinator.
In 2019, Catherine moved once more, back home to Scotland. This was a very new experience, as she worked, not only as a full-time Drama teacher, but as an Assistant Housemistress in the oldest boarding school in Scotland. This involved living-in with the pupils and gaining a great appreciation for their challenges during the global pandemic.
Catherine is looking forward to bringing her passion for Theatre to ECP. She is always interested to learn more about theatre traditions from around the world and is taken with Prague’s rich theatrical history and culture. Catherine is excited to bring more productions to ECP after a few years of heavy restrictions following the pandemic.
