Jan Klaus
Teacher of PE & Sports, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award
Jan is a native Czech, born in Hradec Králové. He studied Sport and Physical Education at Charles University and spent the summers either working in Norway – first as a kayak guide and later, as a guide for rock climbing and other outdoor activities – or travelling to Southeast Asia and Mexico with his surfboard. While at school, he also spent a year studying in Florida and a university term at the School of Human Kinetics in Lisbon, Portugal.
Jan started his teaching career at a primary school in Prague in 2020, where he taught various subjects, before moving to the ECP in 2022.
Since childhood Jan has taken part in many sports, including whitewater kayaking, freestyle snowboarding, rock climbing, surfing, cycling and more, some of them at a competitive level. In his spare time he enjoys all these sports and also strength training, skateboarding, photography and travelling whenever possible, usually to the mountains or to the ocean.
